Metal‐free Catalytic Hydrogenolysis of Silyl Triflates and Halides into Hydrosilanes

The metal-free catalytic hydrogenolysis of silyl triflates and halides (I, Br) to hydrosilanes is unlocked by using arylborane Lewis acids as catalysts. In the presence a nitrogen base, catalyst acts Frustrated Pair (FLP) able split H2 generate boron hydride intermediate capable reducing (pseudo)halosilanes. This organocatalytic system competitive with metal-based catalysts enables formation variety at room temperature in high yields (>85 %) under low pressure (≤10 bar).
